INTERVIEW: MASSIMO ROCCOLI

Two weeks after the unfortunate event at Phillip Island where Massimo Roccoli had two major injuries after falling at high speed, the Italian rider is now preparing for the next race at Imola.

How did you get through the race weekend with these two mishaps?

Unfortunately the crash has ruined the whole schedule of work and going back to the circuit with all these bruises was difficult but the team has helped me develop the bike and we have managed to stay on schedule! My right arm and leg were burning but with the help of the mobile clinic I fought back and started running smoothly!

How does it feel riding the Yamaha after the last few years with Honda and Kawasaki?

I used the R6 for three years, the bike is good and the chassis is the best! Now we are taking several steps to increase the feeling between me and my bike….

Bike Service Team (who has now joined WTR Ten10) is not new to you. How do you feel working with people you known for so long and with whom you started 10 years ago?

It’s nice and I am happy! I can say it’s a dream come true!

On April 1 is the second race at Imola. There will be many Italian fans. How do you feel to race in front of your home crowd?

Misano and Imola are two important events for me and the team, perhaps even the most stressful, but it’s exciting to race in these circuits because I have really great support of friends and fans!

Do you like the Imola track?

Along with Mugello it is my favorite track, a race track full of history. I look forward to being on the track on Friday to close the visor of his helmet! And then¦there is the desire to rebuild after a difficult week in Phillip Island.
